A Wedding Day Your Way – Chloe & Jonah at Hafod Farm, Wales

Today, there is often a pressure for wedding days to be about how extravagant they can; be rather than their soul purpose – for it to be a day celebrating your marriage with those who matter the most to you. Your wedding day is about you and it’s a chance for you to pour your creativity and style into your day however you like.  Don’t get me wrong, I am partial to statement floral piece or an architectural wedding dress but these don’t have to be the be all and end all.

Take Chloe and Jonah at Hafod Farm for example, they knew they wanted a day that focused on joy and having fun with their family and friends and they added things into their day that meant the most to them.

So keep scrolling for some inspiration of how to put your own mark on your wedding day:

  1. Relaxed Morning Preparations
Chloe & Jonah both decided to get ready at Hafod Farm. Whilst still separate, they both enjoyed a relaxed morning with the bridal party. The boys – opting to have their group shots before the ceremony looked extremely dapper. Jonah, wore possibly my favourite groom shoes of all time.

Chloe’s sister (who happens to be an incredible florist), surprised her with her bridal bouquet and tears were had. The bridesmaids, each had their own coloured dresses – a summer colour pop palette for sure!

2. Private Vows
Following the main ceremony at their community church, Chloe & Jonah wanted to share some private vows with one another. They wanted to have time together just the two of them before the wedding day continued with their guests. They drove to Hafod Farm together from the Church, and snook off to a secluded garden in the venue grounds. Just 15 minutes the two of them, and we even had time to fit in some couples portraits.

3. Informal Group Portraits
C & J specially outlined that they didn’t want those traditional group photographs where everyone stands still. They also opted for group portraits to be done in the evening rather than during the drinks reception – during the summer, this works a treat outside. I always like to bring movement into any type of photography that requires direction and group photographs are amongst this. Getting your groups to interact, joke around and just embrace having their photograph taken is what gives the best results. Plus (and the best bit) is that it truly shows people’s personalities, so when you look back in years to come, you laugh all over again.

4. Grannies & JägerBombs
I don’t think this was planned but I couldn’t not include it. The Patriarch, The Life of the Party.

5. “Everybody Up” Dance Floor
No if’s, no buts – everyone up. Now when I say EVERYONE (yes, including me – I throw a mean set of shapes on any dancefloor) was dancing, I mean everyone. Not a single person stood on the sidelines and so much electric energy was in that room. Jonah was throwing shape with his groomsmen whilst Chloe was bringing absolute sass to the floor with her girls.
